I went to a Chris Tomlin concert for his new CD tour Burning Lights a couple weeks ago with some friends from residency. It was a great time of worship with other believers out under the sky.

It really brought back some memories too. The last time I saw Chris Tomlin live was at a Delirious? (remember them??) concert back in 2001 with our church and Chris Tomlin opened for them. I remember  thinking “Wow, this guy is really good. He’s going to be big.” And now, 12 years later, he has made it because I believed in him. Just kidding, he made it because he is really good. Here’s a pic I found of that concert!

It’s quite a trip for me looking at old pictures like this. Has twelve years really gone by already? A lot has happened since then in our church, both good and bad. We have had weddings and new babies, but also people moving away and even people passing away. Yet God has been sovereign in all these things, and we can trust Him to continue to carry out His purposes. Here’s one of Tomlin’s new songs, Sovereign, that talks about just that.
